Accessibility
We test Firmenza against WCAG 2.1 AA.
The target
WCAG 2.1 level AA is the standard we hold the product to. We do not claim to have met every success criterion on every screen — nobody can honestly claim that about software that is still being written — so what we publish is what we test and what we found.
What is measured, and how
Color
Every color pair the design system defines is measured in code, in both the light and the dark theme, against the 4.5:1 floor for normal text. A pair below it fails the test.
Automated accessibility checks
Every public page is scanned with axe-core in a real browser, against the WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 A and AA rule sets, at 1280 and 400 pixels wide in both themes. One violation fails the test.
Keyboard
Every page starts with a skip link, every control is reachable by keyboard, and focus is visible against the page rather than against a same-colored fill.
Small screens
Every public page is rendered at 400 pixels wide, measured for at least 16 pixels of side gutter, and must not scroll sideways.
Both themes
Light and dark are tested as equals, not as a default and an afterthought.
Motion
Nothing animates for longer than about half a second, and everything stops when the operating system asks for reduced motion.
Last measured: September 2026.
Known limits
- Automated tests find a minority of accessibility problems — a page can pass every machine-detectable rule and still be hard to use. We have not yet had the product tested by people who use screen readers and other assistive technology daily, and that is the gap we would most like to close.
- Some content is rendered from our own service — the glossary and the assistant's explanations — and is plain text and headings, with no interactive widget in it.
- PDF is not a format we publish. The report prints from the browser instead, which keeps the page's own structure.
If something does not work
Email us and say what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what happened. Tell us what you use — browser, screen reader, magnification, anything — if you are comfortable doing so; it is usually the fastest route to a fix. We answer.
